Teacher Truth Booth at CAAASA's UNITY Forum
Across various events and activations, BlackFemaleProject's Teacher Truth Booth invites Black educators and administrators to share their workplace experiences and insights with the world. Soak in the rich wisdom in this video, shared by educators who attended CAAASA's UNITY Forum in San Diego, CA this past March, where they responded to our prompts about:
The power and importance of affinity spaces for Black educators
Effective recruitment and retention of Black educators
Strategies for creating a culture of care for Black educators
What it means to thrive at work
Their reflections provide us with the opportunity to learn about their succesess and challenges in striving to create spaces that nurture Black educators.
Teacher Truth uplifts and supports Black educators' experiences, needs, and self-defined visions for collective well-being, while also elevating and celebrating their invaluable contributions across school systems. In addition to supporting the healing of Black educators, our Teacher Truth Booth and other Teacher Truth efforts help to unpack and elevate patterns reported across Black educator experiences. We do this work in order to spread awareness about the experiences and needs of Black educators, and inform policy changes that make workplaces safer and more nurturing for Black people in particular and ultimately for all people.
