What is your industry or area of expertise?

My area of expertise is infant mental health, which involves developmental promotion. We work to ensure that every child has support developmentally and emotionally.

Why do you believe in the mission of BlackFemaleProject?

One, Black folks are already not acknowledged as having value in the United States—period. The dominant culture, white supremacy road to professional status, to getting a Ph. D, is more challenging for people of color, especially Black women.

Black women, in addition to all other women of color, we need spaces where we see other Black women thriving because that is so rare to see. We tend to internalize the white supremacy narrative that we are less than or we can’t succeed. And even when we do succeed, we are told that we are an anomaly.

What brought you to BlackFemaleProject?

It was Black Vines. I’m on their mailing list, and because Black Vines is interconnected with BlackFemaleProject, I saw an announcement. Of course I donated, and then I did an online event, and it pulled me in even more. It was a vision board event.

How has BlackFemaleProject impacted you personallY?

I was very empowered by the vision board project. Because of the complexity of my life and being a busy professional, it’s hard to jump into the activities all the time, but I love seeing that they are available. It makes me feel seen, and I share them with other women.

What BlackFemaleProject content have you found most resonant?

I love seeing BlackFemaleProject at live events. That’s always fun.
