About the Author
With over 30 years of educational leadership expertise in both TK-12 and higher education systems, Dr. Settles-Tidwell is a prolific writer for justice and is a self-proclaimed "At-the-Table Activist.” She is the author of the book, Unscathed: A Harm Reduction Strategy for Women of Color in the Workplace and President and CEO of Set-Up for Success Educational Consulting, which utilizes equity-centered, innovative, practical, and situational approaches to set up mid- to executive-level leaders and organizations for success.
Dr. Settles-Tidwell is a proud graduate of U.C. Berkeley, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Social Welfare, and CSU East Bay, where she earned Masters and Doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership for Social Justice. She is co-author of the article, “An Anti-American Ban On Critique: A Critical Policy Commentary”; originator of the concept, “At-the-Table Activism”; and curator of Sacramento State’s Believing, Becoming, and Being Framework and Mural Project, focused on transforming campuses into antiracist and inclusive environments.
